Designer bullet-proof clothing?
Tonight, at a glitzy affair in Melrose Arch, designer Miguel Caballero will be launching a range of designer bullet-proof clothing - otherwise known as “high security fashion”.
According to IOL, Miguel Caballero has dressed some of the world’s “super-rich” in his protective clothing, including high-profile clients include King Abdullah of Jordan, Prince Felipe of Spain, Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez and actor Stephen Segal.
The range features trench coats, business suits, suede jackets, leather jackets, raincoats, collared shirts, T-shirts and denim casuals.
The protective panels are made from a patented weave of nylon and polyester, which can withstand shots from a 9mm pistol, all the way up to a .44 magnum handgun, a Mini-Uzi or an AK47.
The company was founded in Columbia, where at University, Caballero had classmates - mostly the children of politicians - who wore heavy and obvious protective vests. He decided to start producing high-security fashion, and has since expanded his business into 16 countries.
Now it is South Africa’s turn.
At tonight’s event attendees include Winnie Mandela, Zindzi Mandela, the SA ambassador to Moscow, and a variety of big-shot bankers, businessmen and military personnel.
However, anyone can buy these pieces of clothing. I sure would want some myself!
But, like most things in life, one has to have plenty of cash – and I most definitely know that I can’t afford R20 000 for a Miguel Caballero jacket!!
Maybe Jacob Zuma should get some items of clothing? He seems like he can afford it – given the way he spends his dosh.
He could then perhaps decrease his security/bodyguard personal down by nine-tenths???

Shikotha should certainly get some of this clothing because i expect there will some hots on their lives and for those who support their party. I think we will see violence next year when we get into the election campaign.

This is exactly why the Government don't care about the ordinary folk when it comes to crime, as they have everything thing they need to protect themselves spending a fortune on security and designer bullet-proof jackets like this.

Flipping hell.
That is expensive. The people that need it the most are the ones that can't afford it.

The way Malema is talking now, it seems as though Zille and some of the DA should get themselves some of this clothing!

I am sorry there is just no way that the whole suit is made up of this stuff- surely it is too heavy. ?

R 20 000!!!!
That is crazy- especially if you are shot in the head when still wearing the jacket!!!

If you get shot in the head wearing the bullet proof means it was your destiny. I think the government should budget for the SAPS members who are working deap undercover.
